The opening tournament of Northern Ontario’s premier northern pike tour has been cancelled. The Top 50 Pike Tournament Trail usually runs their opening tournament in Parry Sound the first weekend of May as pike season opens on the first. Earlier this week, the event scheduled for Saturday was cancelled due to the ice which was still on many lakes in the area and postponed until May 25th. One organizer of the event says they spoke to the OPP and the coast guard who both thought holding the event would be a bad idea as the water is too cold and the fish won’t be active anyway.
