Decision on Stockey Centre repairs delayed

Discussions on Stockey Centre repairs and maintenance are going to have to wait.

The Town of Parry Sound has received one proposal for roof and siding repairs as well as maintenance for the Stockey Centre.

The proposal estimates a cost of over $800,000. While council seemed to support getting new siding for the building, roof repairs were another issue. That’s because councillors wanted to know how much of the cost was going into the roof, which there was confusion about at last night’s meeting.

Parry Sound’s Director of Finance Trevor Pinn says the town has already spent over $370,000 on maintenance and repairs for the roof and siding since the centre was built in 2003.

Council voted to postpone discussion about the Stockey Centre to get a clearer picture on where the money will go. It will come back at the September 19th council meeting.
