The cemeteries in Parry Sound are set for restorations.
The Town of Parry Sound awarded a $14,000 contract to Sanderson Monument Co. to restore and repair headstones and monuments in Sylvan Acres and Hillcrest Cemetery.
The town put out a Request for Proposals earlier in 2017. Sanderson made the lowest of the three proposals. It’s also the company that restored the monuments in Hillcrest and Sylvan Acres in 2014 and 2015.
Parry Sound does monument safety testing every year. No repairs were done in 2016, but restorations cost the town $42,000 in 2014 and $29,000 in 2015. The town says the cost is so much lower this year because of the investments into restorations in earlier years.
