Council for the Town of Parry Sound will gather tonight for their regular meeting. On the agenda is a resolution to support the Town of Arnprior in urging the government to keep electricity rates competitive and another to support Earth Day at the end of this month. Council will discuss a by-law amendment to lift a holding provision on the Beatty property to allow for construction to begin on the new elementary school. They will also discuss a resolution to have staff send a letter to the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills in the Ontario Legislature to amend Bill 69. Town staff says the Bill will set strong limits on municipalities’ freedom of contract for construction and infrastructure projects if it is passed as is. The meeting starts at 7:00pm in the council chambers of the town office.
