Fire fighters in Seguin acted quickly to save a house and a pet

Seguin Fire Fighters are being commended on their quick efforts to put out a house fire and save a pet.

Just after 5:00pm on Tuesday, Seguin station 10 along with neighbouring stations 20, 30, and 40 responded to a structure fire on Rankin Lake Road.  When firefighter got to the home, smoke was showing out of the second floor window at the back of the house and they immediately deployed the FIT 5 which is a fire extinguishing grenade designed to slow down the spread of the fire.  This allowed firefighters to put out the fire in a short amount of time and use less water which resulted in minimal water damage to the home.

Once the fire was suppressed, a crew conducted a search and rescue operation where they found a cat alive, but suffering from smoke inhalation.  Luckily about a month ago, all Seguin fire stations received pet specific oxygen masks donated by Invisible Fence Company and fire fighters were able to keep the pet alive before it was transported to a nearby animal hospital.  The pet was improving the next day.
