Man fined for careless hunting near Pointe-au-Baril

A North York man has been fined $5000 by the Ministry of Natural Resources after hunting carelessly in Wallbridge Township.  The man was convicted last month for carelessly firing a gun and having a loaded gun in his vehicle while hunting between Pointe-au-Baril and Britt.  In addition to the fine, the man got a one-year hunting suspension, had to forfeit his gun to the Crown, and now must pass the hunter education course to get his hunting licence back.  The MNR reminds hunters that it is illegal to have loaded guns in a vehicle and that hunter safety is a top priority.
