Students suspended for incomplete immunization records

A total of 41 students at Parry Sound High School have been suspended because of incomplete immunization records.  Last Wednesday, the Health Unit officially suspended high school students from across the North Bay Parry Sound District.  The Immunization of School Pupils Act provides the authority under which the Health Unit suspends students from school if they do not have up-to-date immunization records.  Public Health Nurse Jessica Taus tell parents what they need to do for their child to get off the suspension list.

Taus says parents who don’t wish to get their child immunized must complete new paperwork.

Only students in secondary schools have been suspended at this time as the Health Unit is currently reviewing the elementary schools in the district and suspension notices will be going out this week with the suspension date for students without up-to-date records, April 22nd.
