Community Living Parry Sound is delivering the first-ever Northern Employment Summit.
Many agencies in the North and across Ontario continue to deliver employment services in a segregated, sheltered workshop setting with people with disabilities under-represented in the workforce in Muskoka, Parry Sound and Nipissing. The summit is needed to bring service providers together to create an opportunity for learning and sharing of best practices so that northern agencies can make an “Employment First” commitment to service delivery.
It’s hoped this summit will increase the number of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities who participate in the workforce, increase the capacity of Developmental Service agencies and employment services providers to support more people with intellectual or developmental disabilities to be employed.
The summit will be held on October 11th to 13th and feature speakers from New York, Winnipeg, Sarnia, Oshawa and North Bay to speak with a gathering of employment service providers from across Ontario.
