Tough start to local weekend hockey

In Shamrocks playoff action on Friday the Hall Construction Peewees are the only locals still in play. The Peewees will play the Bancroft Jets today in a must win situation down 2 games to  1 in their best of 5. Game time is 2:30 at the North Hastings Community Centre.

The Optimist Club Novices, the only team playing on home ice yesterday dropped a close 5-3 decision to the Oro Thunder to lose the series 3-0.

In Kinkardine on Friday both the Rotary Club Atoms and the Brokerlink Midgets lost the third games of their respective best of five series. The Midgets were outscored 3-2 while the Atoms were shot-out 6-0. Both series wrapped in 3 games.

Meanwhile it was a rough start for the Parry Sound Islanders in the opening game of their best of five series with the South Muskoka Shield losing the opener 5-0 in Gravenhurst. Game two is tonight at 7:30 at the B.O.C.C. and game three is Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Humphrey.
