Fire danger rating to remain at moderate for Canada Day

The fire danger rating for the West Parry Sound District will remain at moderate heading into Canada Day.

That’s according to Carling Fire Chief Gord Harrison, who says the rain we received overnight June 29 into June 30 was sufficient to keep the rating from rising.

Harrison says that means, for most jurisdictions, camp fires and the use of fireworks are permitted, if allowed under local municipal bylaws.

He’s reminding everyone to check with their local authorities before burning.
