MPP pushing to keep the Magnetawan River Hatchery

The Almaguin Fish Improvement Association may lose their Magnetawan River Hatchery.  The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has stopped funding the hatchery.  Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says the MNRF believes it would affect the fish currently in the river.

Miller says this program has been stocking the Ahmic (PR: Aw-Mick) and Cecebe (PR: Sea-Sea-Bee) lakes for the past 35 years.

Our MPP says the program engages the community.

The supporters of the program believe it’s important for local tourism.  Miller says he’s going to push the MNRF to keep the hatchery going.
