Humphrey Public School tops locally in Fraser Institute rankings

Over 3,000 Ontario elementary schools are included in the latest Fraser Institute rankings, including four in our area.

The rankings are based on nine academic indicators derived from provincewide test results.

The top-ranked school locally is Humphrey Public School with a score of 6.3 out of 10.

McDougall Public School was second with a score of 5.2, followed by Nobel Public School at 4.9 and Parry Sound Public at 4.5.

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School was the lowest ranked locally with a score of 1.7 out of 10.

Officials say the rankings allow parents to compare the academic performance of schools across the province.

“Our Report Cards offer parents information they can’t easily get anywhere else, about how their child’s school performs and how it compares to other schools in Ontario,” says Paige MacPherson, Fraser Institute senior fellow.

Public, Catholic, and independent schools were included in the rankings.
