New Parry Sound school won’t be available to community groups until 2027

Local organizations, sports teams and other community groups won’t be able to use to the new Parry Sound super school until the new year.

That’s according to Near North District School Board officials, who say community use of the school site will be unavailable until at least January 1.

According to officials, finishing touches will continue outside of school hours of the coming months. To ensure contractors have access, the facility will not be available for bookings under further notice.

Officials say that access for programs, activities and events will be considered once site work has progressed to a stage that allows for safe and practical use.

“Community use is an important part of how our schools serve local families and organizations, and we look forward to welcoming groups, teams, and residents through the doors in the months ahead. Until then, we thank the community for its support as this important project moves through its final stages,” concludes a NNDSB release.
