Parry Sound council plans to continue to hold NNDSB to account

Parry Sound council plans to continue to put pressure on the Near North District School Board, provincially appointed supervisor, and Minister of Education.
Coun. Paul Borneman addressed the ongoing saga with the local school board, and the construction of the new K-12 school, at a meeting on Dec. 2.

“I don think we can allow this to slide to the backburner, just because the doors to the school might open hopefully in the not too distant future,” said Borneman.

“We should continue to hold the provincial supervisor, Near North staff, and the Minister to account. Issues around capacity, lack of programming, discrepancy in test scores and the tax differential need to be addressed. This entire saga demonstrates that again when we come together, when we speak with a united voice West Parry Sound won’t be ignored.

Council has reached out to other municipalities in the region for support in their quest to get West Parry Sound removed from the Near North District School Board, and they plan to continue to push for removal.
