Local health unit and OPP warn of impure Percocet pills possibly laced with Fentanyl

The West Parry Sound OPP is warning residents about a batch of im-pure Percocet pills that may contain fentanyl.

The detachment along with the local health unit released a statement Sunday making the people aware of a pill that resembles Percocet’s.

According to the release, the pills are stamped “TEC” but may not be Percocet’s or it may contain other substances mixed in with it such as fentanyl.

Officials say these pills are very dangerous and may cause a person to overdose.

If you decide to take drugs, officials say always have a friend with you and have naloxone available.

Symptoms of an early overdose can include severe sleepiness, slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, slow or shallow breathing/snoring, cold or clammy skin and/or trouble walking or talking.

Observers may hesitate to call 911 in fear of police involvement, as such even if you’ve taken drugs or have some on you, police remind you that the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act can protect you.

Officials advise anyone using Opioids, to start with a smaller amount, pick up free naloxone kits at the health unit, don’t use drugs alone, use with someone you trust and call 911 if your high feels unusual.
