300 AstraZeneca doses arrive at Pollards IDA

Pollard’s IDA Pharmacy in Parry Sound received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines.

Pharmacy Spokesperson Tim Towers tells MyParrySoundNow the pharmacy can’t wait to start putting them to use.

“We’ve got a little less than 3oo doses that are sitting in the fridge that we are anxiously wanting to get into people’s arms. So we’re waiting to get them on our waiting list so we can get them scheduled to the jab;” said Towers.

“Because there are ten doses in a vial and once the vial is open it’s only good for 48 hours, we ideally want to get them in blocks of 10. The preference really is to do like a booking day where we are doing as many as we can get through in a day; We’re hoping to do maybe 60 or 80 in a day,”

Towers said the shots go bad in about a month so the pharmacy is in a rush to make appointments.

You can sign up to get the vaccine by going through the government website, the pharmacy’s site at pollardida.medmeapp.ca/schedule, go in-person and fill out the forms at the pharmacy or call the pharmacy at 705-746-2581.

However, Towers said he much prefers people to use the website or come into the store over calling because of a sharp rise in calls recently.
