Parry Sound industrial park attracting international attention

A delegation from the Canada-Poland Chamber of Commerce of Toronto toured the Town of Parry Sound and surrounding area.

The delegation was headed by Mr. Wojciech Sniegowski, President, CPCC and included four Chamber members, companies representing various industries from aerospace, international logistics and furniture manufacturing, to real estate brokerage, pain treatment, and tourism.  The purpose of the visit was to educate business leaders from outside the area about the opportunities and incentives that are available to businesses contemplating a relocation of an existing business or a new start-up.

The Town of Parry Sound in partnership with Community Business and Development Centre Inc. organized a full day program filled with tours and meetings, including Canadore College, local companies, the Parry Sound Area Industrial Park and Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport Business Park.

The town says by the end of the tour, the delegation was very impressed with the local hospitality and were enthusiastic about the opportunities to invest and build a business here.

Mr. Sniegowski commented, “It was a very productive visit.  We were truly impressed with the variety and quality of companies operating in Parry Sound and look forward to further developing our initial contacts and the ideas discussed.  Upon our return, we will be sharing our experience and all that Parry Sound and the area have to offer with our Chamber members, in Ontario and Poland.”

The town’s Economic Development Officer, Vladimir Shehovtsov, expressed that there would be no disruption to the district’s environment when considering which manufacturing businesses would be considered to develop here.

“I want to reiterate, we are not looking to disrupt the current situation or environment of the town of Parry Sound,” he said. “We may see a company that makes fine furniture or cabinetry manufacturing relocating one of their sister divisions to the industrial park. When this could happen, I would say by next summer at the earliest.”

“We’re bringing manufacturing businesses for one specific reason: to create year-round employment for local residents,” he said.

Next Thursday, investors from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will be doing a similar tour of the Business Park and Airport area.
