Salvation Army Assistance Program starts in time for the holidays

The Salvation Army, in partnership with the Rotary Club, is beginning its Christmas Assistance Program on November 19th.

The program is designed to help individuals and families during the holiday season. The initiative looks for toy and food donations for local families in need.

Lt. Scott Allen of the Salvation Army says that one hundred turkey dinners will be provided to families in need.

If you’d like to support this cause, you can donate money, toys and food through telephone or drop-in to the Salvation Army Rainbow Country Church. In 2018  the Christmas Assistance Program served 188 families which included 199 adults and 167 children.  Over $2600 in food vouchers was given out and almost $20,000.

Registration for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program will be open from Monday, November 19th to Friday, November 30th. All applicants for the Christmas Assistance Program are required to make an appointment. You can call their office at 705-746-5391 to make an appointment between 10:00am-12:00pm then 1:00pm to 3:30pm from Monday to Friday.
