No charges have been laid after a man was found driving the wrong way on Highway 400.
Shortly before 6:30pm on Sunday the West Parry Sound OPP responded to multiple calls of a white Mazda 3 travelling northbound in the southbound lanes.
Police stopped the southbound traffic, blocked a lane with a cruiser and then put down a spike belt. The OPP says the Mazda didn’t stop and ran over the belt which helped to slowly and safely bring it to a stop. No one was hurt.
The driver was a 76-year-old male from Peterborough who was taken to a hospital for medical reasons. The man was reported missing by his family earlier that day. Police determined that the Mazda had driven 40 kilometres the wrong way on Highway 400. The OPP received 29 911 calls about it.
The OPP is reminding people to be mindful of signage on all highways and roadways to ensure safe and proper usage.
