Pointe au Baril Habitat for Humanity build has raised $45k so far

A Habitat for Humanity build in Pointe au Baril has taken a giant step forward.

Members of the Pointe au Baril Islanders’ Association along with other dignitaries gathered recently on a piece of donated property on Lakeshore Drive to celebrate their fundraising efforts and announce the 2019 build project.

Fundraising efforts so far have raised $45,000 towards an ultimate goal of $200,000 and donations of the land by the Morels as well as development and environmental assessment costs have been donated thanks to the Township of the Archipelago and the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve.

Rob Muir, steering committee chair, says donations are still needed such as cash, cheque or online donation to buy building materials, and donations of service and materials that are integral to the home, and volunteering to help build all support the project.

Habitat hopes that the $200,000 financial goal can be reached by spring of 2019.
