Carling Township wants answers about the state of Highway 559.
That’s why council organized a public meeting with the MTO to speak to them directly about certain problems they had with the highway. According to the township many residents have reported damage to their vehicles while driving along Highway 559.
This is despite a recent roadwork that was supposed to address issues with the road.
According to an MTO spokesperson, there was only enough funding to resurface a part of the highway they determined to need the most attention. They added the contractor hired for the work has taken responsibility for the results.
The mayor said a number of projects like this in the past have had varying levels of success. He also mentioned the history of the township bringing up safety concerns about Highway 559 to the Ministry of Transportation.
Carling Township is planning on making a delegation to the Minister of Transportation at Queen’s Park about the future of Highway 559.
