South River man faces numerous charges after driving away from police

Police has laid numerous charges on a motorcycle driver who tried to drive away from them.

On Sunday night, Almaguin Highlands OPP was patrolling the Village of South River when they tried to pull over a motorcycle on Ottawa Street.  Instead, the driver sped away for the cop car and didn’t finally pull over until Dublin Street.

After speaking with the driver, officers arrested and charged a 32-year-old man with driving while ability impaired, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, flight from police, operate a vehicle without insurance, failure to provide a driver’s licence, and fail to apply for vehicle ownership.

He was released from custody and will answer his charges in a Sundridge court next month.
