The Town of Parry Sound is supporting an effort to have the province fund the Film and Television sector in Northern Ontario. At Tuesday night’s meeting, council voted to support a resolution passed by the City of North Bay requesting Ontario to make a public commitment to the stability of the provincial tax credit system and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund to ensure continued foreign and domestic investment in Northern film and television production.
Northern Ontario saw over 27 movie and television series filmed in 2015 and productions are on the rise for this year with productions currently underway in Parry Sound, North Bay, Thunder Bay, and Sudbury. Town will send their resolution to the rest of the West Parry Sound municipalities as well as provincial ministries and organizations for their support.
