ONTC maintenance workers locked out as contract talks break down

Rail and bus mechanics with Ontario Northland were locked out of the job over the weekend.  Negotiations between Unifor and the O-N-T-C broke down on Friday.  Union members organized a blockade at the North Bay Motor Coach repair centre over the weekend after the O-N-T-C arranged to bring in replacement workers.  The employees are fighting for better job security.  Unifor’s national president says it’s time for Premier Wynne to get involved and convince Ontario Northland to head back to the bargaining table.  They’ve been without a contract since 2013.
