Police use Automated Licence Plate Recognition to catch three suspended drivers

Automated Licence Plate Recognition software has turned up suspended drivers in Parry Sound.  West Parry Sound OPP has a cruiser equipped with an ALPR which identifies suspended/unlicenced drivers, stolen vehicles, wanted registered owners, unlicensed drivers and expired/stolen plates.  Last Monday, officers caught two local drivers and another driver was caught last Tuesday, all with suspended licences.  A 38-year-old man from the Archipelago, a 75-year-old from McKellar and a 55-year-old Waterloo woman all face a charge of driving while under suspension, while the McKellar man also faces a charge of failing to have an insurance card.

All three will face their charge in a Parry Sound courtroom April 21st.
