Town of Parry Sound expresses interest in Canadore College building

The Town of Parry Sound has expressed interest in acquiring the local Canadore College campus for the purpose of keeping post secondary education and training opportunities in town.

In a letter sent to Canadore President Dr. Sandra Efu on July 7, the Town officially advised the college of its interest in the building located at 1 College Drive if Canadore remains committed to closing the campus.

“Town Council believes access to post secondary education is more critical today and the value of a campus in the community can not be overstated,” states the letter.

“Access to post-secondary education is a critical component of regional economic development, workforce retention, healthcare capacity, skilled trades development and community resilience.”

At a meeting on July 15, the McDougall council passed a resolution supporting the Town of Parry Sound’s letter, re-iterating the need for keeping access to post-secondary education in the community.
