The Municipality of McDougall has received $450,000 from the provincial government to build a new playground, and make updates to five others.
Local officials announced the investment, made through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, at the Nobel Beach playground on July 15.
“Our government is proud to support municipalities that are making their communities better for their residents,” said Graydon Smith, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka. “Upgrading infrastructure like this adds to the quality of life for residents and visitors to the region.”
Officials say, along with installing a new playground at Nine Mile Lake Beach, the funding was used to upgrade playgrounds at Beaver Trail, Bell Lake, Taylor Beach, Meadowcrest Portage Lake, and Nobel Beach.
Mayor Dale Robinson says without the financial partnership with the NOHFC, a project like this wouldn’t have been possible for the local municipality.
