Bimaajitoon Search and Rescue adds drones to emergency response capabilities

Bimaajitoon Search and Rescue has announced they have added drones to their emergency response capabilities.

The team said the new technology will help expand search areas, survey locations that are difficult for ground teams to reach and provide overhead coverage during rescue operations.

They also said its primary operational drone, with the callsign OSPREY 1, is now officially in service.

All team members assigned to operate the drone are certified at a minimum of Basic Pilot through Transport Canada.

Bimaajitoon Search and Rescue thanked the Knights of Columbus – Parry Sound for their donation, which helped make this addition possible.
