Transport truck driver facing impaired charges after Highway 400 stop

A 27-year-old transport truck driver is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped by West Parry Sound OPP on Highway 400.

Police say around 11:30 p.m. on June 23 officers received a report of a traffic complaint on Highway 400 regarding a southbound commercial vehicle swerving within its lane, striking the shoulder, crossing the centre line and nearly causing a collision. Police located and stopped the vehicle. After conducting a roadside sobriety test, the driver was arrested.

The Brantford man is facing several charges, including impaired operation, and dangerous operation.

He was released from police custody and is slated to appear in court in Parry Sound on Aug. 20.

Police are reminding residents, if you suspect a driver is impaired, call 9-1-1.
