Parks and Recreation Master Plan presented to Seguin Township council

A final draft of a Parks and Recreation Master Plan was presented to Seguin Township council during a meeting on June 15.

The high level, strategic document will help guide the Township in managing, planning and budgeting for parks and recreation over the next 10 years to 2036.

According to planners from Thinc Design, and Mehak, Kelly & Associates, the plan includes analysis and recommendations on recreation facilities, parks and open spaces, programs and events, and the Township’s service delivery system.

Some of the recommendations include:

  • undertake feasibility studies to consider the addition of a second ice pad, and a multi-use recreation field house
  • building a tennis court at the Orrville Community Park
  • creating two pickleball courts at the Orrville Neighbourhood Park
  • upgrades to one of the Township’s ball diamonds
  • the creation of a formal multi-purpose outdoor sports field
  • clarifying specifics on needed facility improvements with user groups and implementing those that are feasible
  • considering the addition of a skate park or pump track
  • putting a call out for volunteers to help develop natural ice rinks in Rosseau, Humphrey and Orrville
  • developing beach volleyball courts

Council received the report for information during its June 15 meeting. It will be brought back to council at a later date for official approval.
