Council recognizes Bill Connor’s induction into National Marine Manufacturers’ Hall of Fame

Local businessman, Bill Connor, has been inducted into Canada’s National Marine Manufacturers Association’s (NMMA) Hall of Fame.

Parry Sound Council congratulated Connors on the achievement during their meeting on Tuesday.

Mayor Jamie McGarvey says at his acceptance speech, Connor, who is the President of Connor Industries and Stanley Boats, said he was humbled and honored to be welcomed into the NMMA’s Hall of Fame with a group of outstanding inductees.

According to Mcgarvey, Connor said his love of boating started early, and a big part of what brought him to this point is his passion for what he does.

“Recreational boating with friends and family. Developed into a love of building high-performance vessels, I want to thank our exceptional team of professionals who make Stanley Boats the industry leaders that we are,” Connor said.

McGarvey went on to say that Connor may have started as a recreational boater but he’s built some amazing boats that have gone all over the world.

“In the 2020-2021 annual report that the town did Connor Industries was featured in that as well. Certainly, we’re very proud of his accomplishments and the work that they do and keeping people employed,” he said.

The NMMA Hall of Fame was established in 1998 in Canada to recognize and honor individuals whose names and deeds are synonymous with the pursuit of quality, innovation and perfection within the sphere of their expertise and those who made or continue to make substantial and lasting contributions toward the advancement of the marine industry.
