Police seize nearly 300g of suspected Fentanyl during HWY400 traffic stop

Four men are facing a variety of weapons and drug charges after OPP conducted a traffic stop near Seguin earlier this month. 

Constable Brandon Charlebois, West Parry Sound OPP Media Relations Officer says on Nov. 8 officers stopped two vehicles travelling together on Highway 400 for stunt driving. 

Charlebois says a subsequent search of the vehicle led to officers finding two firearms and approximately 290 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated value of over $65,000. 

As a result, a 37-year-old from Troy Hill, Ontario was arrested and faces nine charges;

  1. Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  2. Possession of a loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm 
  3. Three counts of possession of a prohibited device for ammunition 
  4. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,  
  5. Possession of purpose for distributing,  
  6. Possession of anything in use for production or trafficking in Schedule 1 or Schedule 3 substances.  
  7. Driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt. Excessive speed.  

An 18-year-old from Barrie was arrested and faces 12 charges; 

  1. Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.  
  2. Possession of a loaded, prohibited, or restricted firearm  
  3. Three counts of possession of a prohibited device for ammunition,  
  4. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  
  5. Possession for the purpose of distributing,  
  6. Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.  
  7. Possession of anything in use for production or trafficking in Schedule 1 or Schedule 3 substances 
  8. Drive motor vehicle, perform stunts, excessive speed,  
  9. Driving while under suspension,  
  10. Failing to comply with the probation order. 

A 21-year-old from Clarington was arrested and faces nine charges 

  1. Possession of schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking.  
  2. Possession of a loaded, prohibited, restricted firearm,  
  3. Three counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 
  4. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,  
  5. Possession for the purpose of distributing, 
  6. Failure to comply with an undertaking,  
  7. Possession of anything in use for production or trafficking in Schedule 1 or Schedule 3 substances 

A 23-year-old from Barrie was arrested and faces 12 charges; 

  1. Possession of schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.  
  2. Possession of a loaded, prohibited, or restricted firearm.  
  3. Three counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 
  4. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  
  5. Four counts of failure to comply with the probation order.  
  6. Possession for the purpose of distributing  
  7. Possession of anything in use for production or trafficking in Schedule 1 or Schedule 3 substances 

Charlebois says all four were held for a bail hearing on Nov 8 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and remain in custody.
