Parry Sound is joining in with an international Global Climate Strike on Friday.
The strike is organized by Fridays for Future, the organization founded by Greta Thunberg in 2018 to fight climate change.
Climate Action Parry Sound will be holding a local strike in downtown Parry Sound Friday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
To comply with COVID 19 safety measures, organizers say activists taking part in the strike will be stationed at various intersections throughout the town and on the lawn of the Mary St. Centre Church.
Masks are required and all individuals participating will be socially distanced according to the event poster.
The strike, titled #NoMoreEmptyPromises, aims to demand that mayors, premiers, and the federal government work together because “we are in a climate emergency.”
