Heads Up on Local Hockey

A busy weekend of hockey for Shamrock teams.

The Brokerlink Midgets were in Huntsville for the Aubrey Percival tournament and swept through the round robin beating Bancroft 3-1 Friday night, St. Mary’s 2-1 Saturday morning, and Mt. Brydges 2-0 Saturday night.  That set up a Sunday morning semifinal game against South Muskoka which the team handled 2-1 to face Huntsville in the final.  The Parry Sound team was crowned champions after a 3-0 win over the host team.

In other Shamrocks action, The Ritchie Insurance Bantams played South Muskoka on Halloween at the BOCC and fell 6-0.  Saturday had the Rotary Club Atoms double South Muskoka 4-2 in Gravenhurst while the Fowler Construction Peewees were shut out in Haliburton 4-0.  Sunday was a packed schedule at the BOCC with Huntsville as the opponent for all the teams in action.  The Optimist Club Novices played a double header against the Otters and scored twice in each game but fell short both times.  The Rotary Club Atoms lead 3-2 in the third periods but couldn’t hang on as they fell 6-3 to the Otters.  The Ritchie Insurance Bantams played an excellent game and were tied 1-1 with less than 5 minutes to play in the third before Huntsville scored on the power play and once more for a 3-1 final.
