Snow squall watch in effect

A snow squall watch is in effect.

It’s for Huntsville, Baysville, Port Carling, Port Severn, The Town of Parry Sound, Rosseau, and Killbear Park.

Environment Canada says it’s expecting brief, but intense snowfall to blow through Saturday morning. It’s going to significantly reduce visibilities and make for some treacherous travel conditions.

The cause is a band of lake effect snow that’s projected to form over northern Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. That band will then move south across the region.

Environment Canada says the areas under the most intense portion of this could get up to 10cm of snow in a short period. The agency is recommending people consider postponing any non-essential travel until conditions improve.
