A premier adventure race is returning to the Parry Sound area

Close to 200 adventure racers will be travelling around the Seguin area over the weekend.

The 2016 Wilderness Traverse Adventure Race has returned to the Parry Sound area where teams of three or four will travel a 150km course through the bush on foot, by canoe, and on bikes.

Assistant Race Director Barb Campbell says residents or cottagers in Seguin shouldn’t be alarmed if they see people with numbered race bibs running through the wilderness this weekend.

Campbell says there is a record 47 teams in the race this year, including a local team returning with a little twist.

The team is raising money for Outward Bound Canada’s charitable programs for aboriginal youth, veterans and women of courage.  They have currently raised $5,400 and hope to hit $6,500 by the end of the weekend.
