MTO engineers assessing Portage Creek Bridge in Seguin Township

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has hired Egis to undertake the preliminary assessment and develop detailed designs for the rehabilitation or replacement of the Portage Creek Bridge.

The bridge is located on Lake Joseph Road, approximately six kilometres south of Highway 141, and is adjacent to Gordon Bay Marine.

According to officials, the purpose of the current study is to identify a preferred plan for the rehabilitation or replacement of the bridge and determine potential impacts and mitigation measures for that plan.

A notice of study commencement was distributed on July 10. Upon completion of the preliminary design, officials said a Transportation Environmental Study Report will be prepared detailing the existing conditions, the evaluation of alternatives, identify the preferred plan, potential impacts and required mitigation. This report will be made available to the public for a 30-day comment period.

More information on the project can be found at www.portagecreekbridge.com.
