Registration for WPSHC Foundation’s Walk, Run, Pole fundraiser now open

Registration is now open for the West Parry Sound Health Centre’s Walk, Run, Pole fundraiser.

The fitness challenge, which begins May 1, encourages residents to get out, exercise and raise money for the local hospital throughout the month of May.

According to officials, this year participants will once again be raising funds for the surgical suite upgrades at the local hospital. The $2.5 million project will see upgrades made to three operating rooms, the endoscopy room and the medical device reprocessing department. According to officials, new equipment and technology will also be purchased to expand surgical services for urology, ophthalmology, orthopedics and breast cancer.

To date, the Foundation has managed to raise $1.9 million of the $2.5 million dollar goal.

“We’ve seen what’s possible when this community comes together,” said Foundation CEO Deborah Loosemore. “With continued support, we can continue to ensure that every surgery at West Parry Sound Health Centre is performed with the most advanced equipment and technology
available.”
