Tamarack North Centre campaign launched to name new pool after local advocates

The Tamarack North Centre’s team of fundraising volunteers and community partners have launched a public campaign to name the new six-lane pol in honour of Richard and Jane Culverwell.

Officials say the tribute honours the couple’s decades-long leadership, advocacy and dedication to helping bring a pool to the region.

Richard and Jane’s passion for health, active living began in Sault Ste. Marie, where both worked as lifeguards and swim instructors before earning physical education degrees at Western University.
They later settled on the shores of Georgian Bay, raising their children in Parry Sound and dedicating their careers to Parry Sound High School, while coaching and promoting youth sport.

In retirement, the Culverwell’s became pivotal supporters of the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre, helping galvanize donations and community support, and advocating for six-lanes to optimize training and competition potential in Parry Sound.

With the facility nearing completion, the community is celebrating the Richard and Jane’s lasting impact by inviting contributions to the tribute fund to name the six-lane pool in their honour.
