Drug, weapon, and driving charges laid after traffic stop

Two people are facing a slew of charges after being stopped for speeding in Strong Township.

Almaguin Highlands OPP says the pair was pulled over for going 49 kilometres per hour over the limit on Highway 11, shortly after 8:30 p.m. on March 29.

Officials say a search of the car found about $10,000 worth of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphine, and fentanyl, as well as a loaded rifle, ammunition, brass knuckles, break-in tools, “numerous” knives, and a mask.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Whitby woman and a 40-year-old Windsor man, whose charges include possession of each of the substances, multiple weapons offences, identity fraud, as well as several driving-related and court-related charges.

Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.
