The number of parking tickets handed out by McDougall bylaw officers rose 290 per cent last year, according to data included in the latest report from the municipality’s bylaw department.
Officers dished out 203 tickets last year, compared to 52 in 2022. They also issued 22 parking warnings, compared to five the year before – a 540 per cent increase.
The overall number of tickets issued by McDougall bylaw officers rose from 86 to 302 in 2023.
Officials say this was due to more thorough patrols, more neighbour concerns and an increased presence at the boat launch and local beaches.
