Museum seeking public’s help to reconnect with the forgotten

The West Parry Sound District Museum has opened a brand-new exhibit titled ‘Reconnecting with the Forgotten.’

Museum staff have dug up a diverse collection of unidentified photos from the archives and put them on display.

Staff hope that community members will be able to recognize the unidentified individuals in these photographs and share the stories associated with them so they can be recorded and preserved.

“One aspect that many museum workers struggle with is the amount of history that is not preserved. Particularly, the intangible details of an artifact such as, the stories of those connected or depicted, how it was used or created and the effect it had on the lives tied to it,” said curator Michaela Dickens.

“This project is one way we hope to preserve those details so we can be better able to explore the human elements behind the items we collect and keep them alive for future generations.”

The exhibition will be open to the public until May.

More details about the exhibit, including operating hours, can be found at musueumontowerhill.com.
