Magnetawan’s Habitat for Humanity reveals South Street build

Magnetawan’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North (OGN) hit a milestone this week with the group’s first modular home project.

Marking a first for the local chapter as well as the whole organization, OGN successfully delivered the home from Quebec, where it was constructed, to its final destination at 173 South Street in Magnetawan.

According to the group, the project, made possible thanks to Champoux Homes, involved support from the Magnetawan Municipality, local businesses, charitable foundations, as well as both year-round and seasonal community members.

According to Mayor Sam Dunnett, the Municipality donated the land for the group’s build.

“The Municipality of Magnetawan commends the Board of Directors who are energetic, community minded, and family driven as they have worked tirelessly spending countless hours fundraising and engaging with contractors who have generously donated to our Magnetawan Build so that we can welcome with open arms a family into our community,” Dunnett says.

Officials say the Magnetawan chapter also designed the modular, universally accessible and energy efficient home.

The chapter’s Construction Chair says Champoux went above and beyond to ensure that the home met all the criteria of an accessible, efficient home.
