Parry Sound calls on the province for $10 million in Infrastructure support

Parry Sound is calling on the province to back up its call for more housing with additional funding.

The town’s council carried a motion on Tuesday officially making the request for more support for infrastructure expenses to support housing.

The motion requests that the province earmark $10 million in infrastructure funding to the Town in support of the timely execution of its infrastructure plan to increase sanitary sewer capacity.

Officials say that capacity will add 1,920 additional dwelling units by 2031.

The town is also sending a copy of the resolution to the province’s Ministers of Infrastructure, Municipal Affairs and Housing, Parry Sound’s MPP and the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, as well as the Premier.
