One dead after driving vehicle into Honey Harbour

Police are investigating a death in Honey Harbour.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP says just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a marina in the village where a vehicle had driven into the water.

Police say an officer entered the water alongside civilians to attempt a rescue, removing the vehicle’s lone occupant and performing life saving measures. According to officials, a 79-year-old Hamilton resident was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

OPP collision investigators are continuing their investigation.
