‘Key milestone’ this weekend in Robinson-Huron Treaty annuities cases

What’s being called an ‘important’ update in the ongoing Robinson-Huron Treaty annuities case is coming this weekend.

An advisory says officials with the Robinson-Huron Treaty Litigation Fund and the governments of Ontario and Canada will announce a key milestone and next steps in the ongoing annuities case.

Representatives from all parties, including the federal and provincial ministers will be at the scheduled media event in Sudbury on Saturday afternoon.

Canada, Ontario and the 21 Robinson Huron Treaty First Nations, including Wasauksing, Shawanaga, Magnetawan and Henvey Inlet First Nations,  have been working together to try and find common ground outside the courtroom since January.

The final stage of the process deals with the amount of compensation owed to beneficiaries under the treaty.
