The North Bay Parry Sound District will soon have a new Medical Officer of Health.
“On April 26, Dr. Jim Chirico made the Board of Health aware of his retirement effective July 11, 2023, with his last day at work being May 12, 2023,” reads a statement from the Health Unit. “Dr. Chirico has worked as the Medical Officer of Health for the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit since 2009.”
Officials say the board has appointed Dr. Carol Zimbalatti, the Health Unit’s current Associate Medical Officer of Health, as the Acting Medical Officer of Health starting May 12.
Once approved by the Minister of Health, she will officially become the Medical Officer of Health and Executive Officer for the Health Unit.
