Katy McNabb awarded GBLT’s King Family Bursary

A local interior designer and podcaster is the recipient of this year’s King Family Bursary.

Parry Sound-born Katy McNabb started her podcast, “Rewind Design,” in 2022 to talk about the history of Ontario’s Cottage Country. According to the Georgian Bay Land Trust, which gives the award, McNabb will use the $3,500 bursary to create a second season of the podcast. It will be focused on sustainable design, featuring building industry professionals.

“I am extremely honoured to receive the King Family Bursary in support of my project Rewind Design, Season 2,” says McNabb. “I am a huge advocate for sustainable design and architecture on Georgian Bay’s shorelines. Development on Georgian Bay is inevitable. However, it is my goal to help current and future generations become more educated on sustainable ways of building and designing to protect our treasured Georgian Bay shores and ecosystems for generations to come.”

The bursary was created in 2014 to support projects which “promote knowledge and appreciation of the eastern shore of Georgian Bay and the North Channel, and its unique environment, history, communities and/or culture,” according to the land trust.
