Job postings were down month-over-month in December in Parry Sound, but the Labour Market Group (LMG) says there is a positive sign with the year-over-year figure.
There were 92 job postings in December.
That’s down about 22% from November.
LMG says the decline is likely due to seasonal trends heading into the holiday season.
But, officials point out the year-over-year figure is up
“The 2022 figure is slightly above; +5.7% (+5) the December 2021 total which is a positive sign that the possible recession signs seen from the previous few months have stalled; at least temporarily,” states the LMG Jobs Report.
December saw 55 employers posting jobs.
The top five employers posting jobs include:
- Walmart – Parry Sound
- West Parry Sound Health Centre
- Lady Isabelle Nursing Home
- Near North District School Board
- YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka
Health Care & Social Assistance was the top hiring industry, followed by retail trade.
Educational services rounds out the top three.
