Police have wrapped a 14-month-long investigation into a little under $130,000 worth of fraud in Carling Township.
The OPP’s West Parry Sound Detachment says members of its Crime Unit started the investigation back on Nov. 18, 2021.
As a result of the investigation, police say a 24-year-old woman from North York was arrested and was charged with:
- Two counts of Use, deal, acts on forged document, contrary to Section 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Two counts of Fraud over $5000, contrary to Section 380(1)(a) CC
- Two counts of Possession of an identity document, contrary to Section 56.1 CC
- One count of Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) CC
Constable Joe Scali, the detachment’s Media Officer confirms the fraud was not done by someone who worked at a business.

“During a fraud investigation it does take time to verify the documents through the proper channels,” he says.
Police say the accused is scheduled for a court appearance on March 2nd at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.
